ok so I have to catch up the last 5 days.
Thursday: Jess arrived about 4pm without any probs, made her call the olds immediately to report her arrival in Auckland, and we drove straight up to One Tree Hill as the day was gorgeous and she could get a good look at the city. Went home to settle in and so she could meet Seb, and decided we would go to the movies and see Transformers 2. Wendys for dinner. Came home and... I can't remember... bloody hell. Did we watch a movie? Anyway we ended up in bed asleep I know that much.
Friday: Got up leisurely and went into town to meet Kate on K'rd. Took Jess to St Kevins arcade, she fell in love with all the shops instantly and trawled the opshops for preloved gear. kate took the kids back to my Nanas for me and Jess and I had a Mac Attack before going home via the chair upholstery guy to get my newly covered kitchen chairs. They look O for Osum, after years of being tatty and revolting they are now nicey. Hopefully they last another 40 years. Sebs boss is english and his daughter who is 15 is here for the holidays, they had a birthday party for her which was weird, as in we didn't know anyone and sat in the corner noshing on m&m's and lemonade. When the platters came out we pigged out even more. All said and done by 10pm and back to Glenfield to pick up the boys. Home to watch the Whale and the Squid. Weird.
Saturday: Roadtrip. Left home at 11, stopped at my mums, before driving to Rotorua. 2 1/2 hours into it I got a ticket, yeah, for not stopping at a stop sign, that is not coming to a complete stop, thought it was a give way, oh well my bad. Got to Rotorua which was pretty cold at 6 degrees, and checked into the hotel. Had a short break to stretch our legs and carried on to Waikite springs for a nice dip in the hotpools. Wasn't fun wearing a swimsuit in 6 degrees, but it was nice whilst submerged. Made our way back to town and went to Brendan and Rebeccas for dinner, had nice Daal and rice. first day over, and buggered.
Sunday: Weather is poos. Cold. Windy and cold. Took Jessie for some 'culture' at Tepuia Thermal park, had the guided tour with a choice fulla called Paul who reminded us of Uncle Gray, watched a cultural show, singing, haka, traditional powhiri onto the Marae, poi dance, stick dance, and jess figured out where we inherited the singing gene from. One of the ladys in the group had a pretty amazing voice. After that finished we walked around the park, froze while waiting for the geyser to ignite which was pretty spectacular, and perused the gift shop for ages. Farewelled Rotorua and drove to Tauranga for Roast chicken dinner at Rod and Roses.
Monday: left the company of the Pickerings and slowly made our way home, took Jess to Karangahake, and Paeroa, and stopped again at Mums on the way. Took Jessie to the supermarket, made Burritos for dinner. Good times, before scaring the shit out of her watching 'Twin Peaks - Fire Walk with Me". 18 years on David Lynch is still scarey and fucked up. When Seb woke up this morning Jess had her bedside lamp on... lol. we think she slept with the light on all night.
And so today, probably going to do the Art Gallery, I have a sore throat and Cole has a cold but onward we go. I just wish I could remember what we did when we got home from the movies on Thursday.
