opportunity

I met with my Maori lecturer yesterday for a drink, it was meant to be her shout of drinks for the class, I was the only person who turned up, and I felt bad that noone else bothered, she had said we were the best class she ever taught, and noone came to have a drink with her.

I had my own motives, not the least of which is I really liked the paper, but I was really there to talk about the summer scholarship. She is head researcher for one of the Summer Maori papers, I want to be the research assistant. I asked her what my chances were, she said of the 3 who have applied, none are suitable, one girl who approached her is perfect but she hasn't applied, if I applied she will happily take me if the other girl doesn't. Im hoping the other girl doesn't.

It equates to a research assistants position for 10 weeks and is paid 500 bucks a week tax free as a total $5000 stipend. It starts at the end of November, takes off the december break from the 24th to the 3rd, and resumes till mid February. She said it will be abit boring, alot of transcribing, which I don't mind, and a small amount of travel away from home for a couple of nights. I don't mind that either.
