had a meeting with a 'person'* to talk about something, which led to talking about 'something else' and told the 'person' I had not completed 'something' due to a 'situation', and the 'person' said I could give them 'something' and they would 'look at it'.
its my veiled attempt at confidentiality. so my point in telling this is, its upped my workload this weekend. And unfortunately for the boys, they are stuck at home with boredom times mummy who has to read a wordy mind bender about the political discourse of 'tolerance'. the tolerance thing has nothing to do with the other confidential thing I might add. Anyway, so I just took the kids to the park with some chips and toasties from Ollies, and ready my Wendy Brown brain bleeding stuff about tolerance while they had a play.
and I forgot...
my classmate Alani, a most vivacious young tongan guy says to me at the elevator
'how old are you? oh Im sorry I shouldn't ask, but well you know, I was wondering..'
'how old do you think I am Alani?' ( I am laughing )
'Um well I was gonna say 24??' ( and hes not just being 'polite')
'Im 36'
'what?'
'Im 36'
'Oh my god you don't look it! whats your secret??' (this after hes asked me if i'd join him downstairs for a smoke and I have to tell him I don't smoke'
" I don't smoke and I don't drink coffee'
'oh so you don't smoke? I thought you smoked!! well you're a minority then!'
'minority of?'
'Maori women who don't smoke!'
hahahaha. He made my day.
