3 weeks till semesters finished, Im at Uni right now attempting to begin my research essay for Politics.

the other thing. I went to my Nanas for lunch and my aunt was there. She had one of those digital frames and in order to demonstrate she invited me to put my XD card in and display the photos on the card. That was fine.... but. Her photo frame was faulty, my card got stuck, and she pulled it out so hard that it tore the plastic edge of my card. So.... no card. AND.... I can't find my other cards. SO.... this all equals a giant hole in my photo blog, and I have run our of room on the internal memory. Im annoyed by this as it has killed my enthusiasm for the project, and I can't really afford to buy another card at the moment as Seb has just been made redundant.

Ok so maybe 3 things....

Seb called me Thursday morning, about 20 minutes after he had rung me already to have our morning conversation as he leaves for work when Im still asleep. Having just told me to sleep in because Id been up late doing school work, he ran and said ' oh well, you better get up, I've just been made redundant'.

He's a kidder at the best of times, so, I wasn't sure if it was a fib, quickly established it wasn't.

This really couldn't have come at a worse time. in 8 weeks we are hosting his daughter for 10 days on her first trip from Canada in 5 years, he has money owed to the plane tickets as well as his on ongoing bills and expenses. They have given him a month till they let him go, the announcement was not according to proper employment policy, and then they told him he's not owed a day of holiday pay as he's used all of it being sick. What? 2 months ago the accountant informed him he was all out of sick pay, this doesn't surprise me given we spent a week in Wellington at his fathers bedside, hes had the flu about 3 times, and there was that little chest pain stint 2 months ago. However.... according to the dept of labour, an employer must advise their employee of their sick leave allowance, they must ask permission from the employee to use the employees holiday pay, or opt instead for a day without pay. His employer told him they had no 'contingency plan' for him to be sick after his sick pay was used up and it was too expensive for her to readjust his wages. Im sorry? what the fuck?

anyway.... before we start frothing at the mouth, hes going to meet with the accountant and ask to be shown a hard copy of all his sick days off. This doesn't change the fact there is no editing work available at the moment, even though his dad and stepmum are asking around the industry given they are both in the television, production/post production world. Im not confident right now they will come up with anything, editing work is hard to come by, is generally word of mouth, or advertised in-house. Im picking he'll have to work outside post production, outside the industry even until he secures another editing position.
