Further to...

Last Tuesday....

In the paper there was a thing, about the boy who got run over . I was very very sad to have to read it.

In all other things hospital like, Sebs Dad is improving, getting less and less confused by the sounds of it, which is great. My mum is having surgery this morning to remove a benign tumour from the salivery gland behind her ear. I won't lie that Im not alittle concerned, its a 4 hour procedure in which they have to take her face off without destroying her facial nerves, or leaving her with damage resulting in such excellent things as 'sweaty cheek' or no sensation and so on and so on. I just rang her, she sounds blase, and described the entire thing as 'inconvenient'. Tally ho and on we go. Emma arrives tomorrow, and soonish its Kobi's 11th birthday. Still no idea what im going to do, too busy worrying about the 2000 written submission due the day before as well as the test I have to sit, also the day before.....

I started this entry up there a week ago, and I never came back to it.

Monday the 13th...

Mother spent 3 days in ward, her face is heavily blocked by anaesthetic and persists in dropping on the side they operated on. her mouth is downturned in the corner, and one eyebrow is also lower than its friend. Her level of discomfort is 'present' but shes managing like a guy with big big hairy nuts. Shes surprised at how tired its made her, merely eating is a chore when half your mouth doesn't chew and your eye doesn't close properly either. Im hoping that whatever nerve damage she sustained under the knife will come right over the next couple of weeks.

Its Easter.

Nana and I took lunch premade to invalid central so that my mum didn't have to do anything but still got to have an easter sunday with us. Emma says to me as I am standing in the kitchen,
-"so is it easter today?"
-"Emma, its easter ALL weekend"
-"ohhh"
-"Easter is 3 days, Friday Jesus died on the cross, hence HOT CROSS BUNS, and on Sunday is the resurrection, hence EGGS"
-"I didn't even know that.... whats a resurrection???"
-"What??? OMG Emma, I don't even like god and I know that much"

....... the youth of today....

she later spelt "extraordinary" as "extrodanary". I think New Zealands schools are bloody shit judging by that attempt.

Sebs Dad has been on day pass all weekend as well, and his sister is over from Sydders again to be with Brendan and help Jan. He's improving alot, but still looks somewhat bewildered and also like someone in a frathouse attacked him with electric clippers after a boozy night, bits of hair missing from surgery, other bits of hair very long after not have had a haircut in a month. We're going to visit at 2ish today.

Im wonddering how many of my nanas homemade hot cross buns I can put away in my mouth without feeling at all guilty.
